Religious Exploration for Youth
Starr King Youth (SKY)
Our Starr King Youth Program (SKY) provides a small group learning opportunity for youth in middle school and high school.
For the remainder of the 2010-2011 church year, Starr King Youth are invited to join adults in worship or to assist in our FUNShop programming for elementary-aged children. We want to extend a warm welcome to any high school or middle school youth to attend worship as an integral part of our community. As adults and youth, we are always learning about what it means to be in community and what it means to participate in worship. Let us continue on this spiritual path of renewal and learning together. Youth are invited to sit with each other as a group or with their parents during the Sunday service.
During the summer of 2011, the church is considering hosting a “Check-In Group” for high school and middle school youth. This group would meet during a time outside of Sunday morning worship for about an hour to share what is going on in their lives and practice deep, compassionate listening as a small group. If you are interested in participating in a Check-In Group, please contact Lane Campbell, Director of Religious Exploration.
“The great end to religious instruction…is not to stamp our minds irresistibly on the young but to stir up their own; not to make them see with our eyes but to look inquiringly, and steadily with their own; not to give them a definite amount of knowledge but to inspire a fervent love of truth; not to form an outward regularity but to touch inward springs…” –William Ellery Channing
