A verse of one of our favorite hymns begins, “A child is born among us and we feel a special glow.” We express this “special glow” by welcoming infants and young children into the community with a ritual ceremony comparable to Christian baptisms or christenings.

These events can be private occasions, involving the friends and family of the child; or, for church members, part of a Sunday service involving the congregation. Child dedication ceremonies are usually crafted by the parents and the congregation’s minister working closely together.

Many will include:

  • A blessing for the new life of the child
  • An expression of the parent or parents’ hopes for the child
  • A promise by the congregation to support and nurture the child

If you are interested in having your child dedicated by our minister, please contact our office or minister.

Our facilities are available for rental by non-members for child dedication ceremonies.
