Welcome to our New Minister – The Rev. Eric Meter

Dear Starr King UU Church Community,
The Board of Trustees, on the recommendation of the Search Team, is pleased to announce that the Rev. Eric Meter has agreed to be our new minister, beginning on 15 August 2025, for a three-year period with the option to call.
Rev. Eric is currently the lead minister at First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa, Canada.  He speaks openly about his desire to return to the country of his birth to be a part of the change necessary to reclaim our democracy. A friendship that started with the Rev. Marco Belletini, at Starr King Seminary continued where he served as an Assoc. Minister with Marco in Columbus, Ohio.  Their friendship endures to this day.
Marco, as well as Eric’s references spoke highly of his strengths in pastoral care, grief work, strengthening children and youth ministry, and social justice.  They describe what we all discovered ourselves in numerous on-line communication and conversations.  He has a sense of humor, can own his “missteps”, has a quiet leadership style that people appreciate.  He is collaborative, a good listener, and works to solve problems. Of note was one reference who spoke of his role in their coming out of COVID and getting back to normal and revisiting a major building project; he has a steady presence and helped us feel that there was substance here.
