Ed Vaughan, PhD., Professor of Sociology Emeritus at University of Missouri-Columbia will use the book of Jonah to show how biblical materials are frequently misunderstood. He will show that the writer was being reflective about Israel’s behavior and will draw several parallels to our current social and cultural conflicts. Before the sermon, Worship Associate Bob Simoni will read a “story for all ages” that tells the story from another perspective, that of the whale that swallowed Jonah.
