Today we honor the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It was a courageous, bold, unique, and daring experiment in governance; an act for which they could have been tried for treason and died. Join us as we explore this experiment: its origins, complexities, compromises, promise, and uniqueness. When Benjamin Franklin was asked, “Tell me sir, do we have a monarchy or a Republic. ”To which Franklin replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” How do we, 250 years later, 2026, as Unitarian Universalists and as citizens of this Republic, repair and rebuild the Republic?
