We are always happy to welcome guests! If this is your first time visiting a Unitarian Universalist church or our congregation, here’s some idea of what to expect:

A warm greeting at the door. We gather for Sunday worship at 10:30am, but you might want to arrive a bit early to chat and choose a seat.

A non-judgmental space. We welcome people of all abilities, ages, races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and creeds.

Accessible facilities. We welcome and affirm people of all abilities with accessible grounds and services. Greeters and ushers are available to assist you.

Please get in touch if there’s anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable!

Sunday Worship at Starr King

Unitarian Universalist worship varies by congregation. Our services tend to be informal, friendly, and eclectic. And always musical! Sometimes the music is traditional, sometimes contemporary. There’s almost always joy and even laughter, but sometimes there are tears. Our worship services call us to our better selves as we learn to live with more connection, wisdom, and compassion.

The critters outside our windows sometimes distract us, and that’s okay!

Elements of a typical Sunday morning worship service include:

  • Warm welcomes and lighting the chalice – the symbol of our faith tradition
  • An opening hymn – with more to follow!
  • A story or activity from our Family Ministry team
  • Lighting candles for the joys and concerns of individuals in the congregation
  • A quiet time, often with music, for meditation or prayer
  • A sermon given by our minister, a guest speaker, or a member of the congregation
  • An offering – collecting financial donations to support the church or local justice work
  • After-service coffee and food

Sometimes we plan worship for other times: seasonal celebrations, holidays, and ceremonies. The best ways to know about upcoming events:
