On November 1, 2015, a special congregational meeting unanimously adopted this resolution:

We, the members of Starr King Unitarian Universalist Church, unequivocally affirm our support of the 2015 Action of Immediate Witness to “Support the Black Lives Matter Movement” adopted by the Unitarian Universalist Association at its 2015 General Assembly. We add our voices and our own call to action through this resolution:

• We believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We are especially concerned for those treated as disposable and dangerous on the basis of skin color.
• We condemn the institutional racism, in the guise of “public safety,” that makes it possible for some law enforcement officers and vigilantes to harass, assault, and kill black and brown people with impunity.
• Our belief in the transforming power of love calls us to reach out to oppressed and oppressor alike to create a community that values the flourishing of all its people equally, irrespective of skin color or any other distinguishing characteristic.
• Our commitment to justice, equity, and compassion in human relations demands that we stand up, speak out, and participate in the Black Lives Matter movement to end this injustice.
