Nathaniel Branden said, “The first step toward change is awareness. The second step is acceptance.” Last month the children in the religious exploration program were gardeners, they cultivated flowers and their humanity. They considered how peace, justice and compassion grow when we plant seeds of kindness, fairness and love. This month the children will dig deep and learn about opening their hearts and minds to acceptance of these vast fields of humanity and existence. The children will explore the 3rd principle – that is that we should accept one another and keep on learning.
The children are exploring this principle via learning, doing, and worshiping. They collectively created paper people to create and celebrate diversity and will meet with a panel of congregants to share their learning’s about this principle. Last week in worship Rev. Sonya Sukalski spoke to the children of the ancient promises of life including having an abiding love for existence and learning that we stronger together than apart. Ultimately the children will put their learning into practice by working together to create masterpiece, a masterpiece celebrating diversity and acceptance.
