What do Starr King youth think about their community garden?

Family Ministry: Seed to Harvest

SoUUlful UU Ministry has been experiencing “seed to harvest!” Several months ago the children planted pop corn, radish, sweet peas, beans, sweet corn, and pumpkin seeds. In preparation, as one of our family projects, the families created a table top compost bin. Now as we harvest, we will share our tomatoes with our local food bank. And we recently picked our sweet peas to share at our multi-gen pot luck at church.

Family Ministry: Honoring Each Other

We were opening up our circle by chiming a musical instrument, the triangle. R called out first,  “My turn”,  but O was first to grab the instrument. R told him several times that it was her turn first. She called it. He did not relinquish the triangle. His reasoning was he reached for it first, therefore it was his turn. O

For circle time, the children are exploring the importance of community. Each were given a rock and a story was told. Once upon a time, there was a tiny bird who was very thirsty and could not reach the water in the glass. The children were asked, “How can we help as a community using our rocks?. Family Ministry: Attachment

Think for amount about the “Go to person” in your life, and then think about the “why” you go to them. What you are experiencing is an attachment connection that we humans need to live a balanced life. That go to person provides security, love, validation and more. For the young child the attachment connection creates a safe environment to explore, knowing they have a trusting, loving adult, with open arms, waiting for their return.

SoUUlful Family Ministry: What Is It?

SoUUlful Family Ministry is a hybrid program providing both virtual and in person services for the children. Our virtual services include a “Happy Heart” circle time.  It is a pre-recorded circle to be played at the family’s convince.
