Regathering: Care for All – No One Left Behind

On 29 August 2021 we will gather for In-person and Virtual Worship

Out of an abundance of caution, and a belief in our values and science, The Board of Trustees at its meeting of 1 July affirmed that we would Regather for in-person and virtual worship on Sunday, 29 August 2021.

The following will continue to guide our work:

  • Values of Love, Inclusion, justice, safety, and

From the Board – April 2018

The big news this month is our board is going over the budget and trying to fit our champagne and caviar dreams into a beer and pretzel reality. We are faced with rising costs for things that are needed and we find ourselves sharpening the pencils more often in search of ways to save money.

The good news is that we have had several important budget related events and more are on the way. … Read the rest

From the Board – February 2018

For those of you who weren’t at the Martin Luther King Day Gathering at Hayward City Hall, it was a powerful experience. Terri Owen has been the chief organizer of this march for many years and once again the turnout filled the square and the march inspired those we passed in cars and on the sidewalks. Our church was joined by others in the South Hayward Parish in both celebration of how far we have … Read the rest

From the Board – December 2017

The holidays are almost upon us, but the board is still at work. We have been busy with the grounds.

  • Bob Britton has been instrumental in having some trees trimmed at our southern perimeter.
  • Working with Walt Korus and Dave Middleton, the playground has a fresh covering of wood mulch.
  • Preparations are being made to remove Ornea Cottage.
  • There are other repairs that the Board is reviewing as well.
  • A group is looking at establishing

From the Board – August 2016

Our mild weather is warming up for our summer activities. It is time for water fun. I always think of playing in the sprinklers with all the neighborhood kids, and a few adults. We made up game after game to stay wet and cool. Swimming was always popular, but not all of the families could afford the fees for using the local pools. We worked things out and stayed cool one way or another.… Read the rest

From the Board of Trustees – July 2016

As usual, our church has been busy, busy, busy. There always seems to be more to do. We have so many irons in the fire it is hard to keep track of it all.

Reverend Joy is leaving us after her sermon on July 3, 2016. She has been so fabulous in helping us to find our way while looking for a new settled minister, I am amazed at her energy and commitment. We … Read the rest

From the Board – June 2016

We are awesome! It has been very busy these past two months. As a result of that busyness, we have been able to accomplish a great deal. During May we had our candidate come here for a bit over a week to get to know us and we her. I know that most of us were able to see her in her professional role as well as her social side.

These meetings were the culmination … Read the rest

President’s Report – February 2016

Dirk and Colleen finished 2015 by preparing a wonderful Christmas dinner. The other attendees brought side dishes and desserts to fill out the menu. We ate, we sang familiar carols, we had desserts, and then we pitched in to cleanup. It is a sight to behold when so many people work together. You all deserve a hearty pat on the back for another fabulous feast.

The bay area is finally getting the rain we have … Read the rest

President’s Column – November 2015

I am sure that we have all noticed that the church has been humming even more than usual. We are having trouble scheduling meetings, and even more trouble with individual availability. We can only be in one place at a time (so far), but it is good to see all the participation and cooperation throughout our community.

We had a successful Weed ‘n’ Feed on October 17. There was good attendance and lots of work … Read the rest

President’s Report – October 2015

The search is on. Things are getting even more exciting and busy. The Board is tasked with finding a member of the Board and a member of the congregation to serve with the Search Committee’s Negotiating Team. Rebecca Parr will explain a bit more about what we are expected to do. There will soon be some other activities to help the Search Committee to make the best possible match of minister to our church. As … Read the rest
